Recently I saw a post by one of my young friends who was bummed that she just missed the boat on the pre-wedding hashtag.  ME TOO!!!  I am such a #wannabe!  We SO missed out on being in the hashtag generation and validating our relationship with that little symbol! I mean if you hashtag it, it’s real right?  It’s like that whole…if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound thing. If we got engaged and married without a hashtag…are we really married? #hashtag-less  #arewelegit?

As our anniversary looms near, I enviously confess the desire to could get married all over again…to each other of course… so that we could experience the twenty-first century version of getting hitched.  I am wistful that I didn’t get that pinterest-perfect wedding proposal with a photographer in tow to capture the moment for posterity. #flashmob-posals  #marrymemurals  #epiccreativity.   Ours was rather…#HeaskedIsaidyes  #vanilla  #nopictures  Even going to a high school prom apparently warrants a proposal these days?!  #promposals!?!?  #whatintheworld  #ican’teven?  Missed that one too.  : /

I am also a bit green that we missed out on the MEGA cool engagement pictures to rival any of our actual unimaginative wedding shots where families lined up staring straight into the camera. I want those inspired #lyinginmeadows  #crossingbridgesatsunset  #umbrellasandrainboots kind of Kodak moments to cherish forever. Oh well…

I am really sad that we didn’t have a pre-wedding hashtag to attach to all of those smiling couple pics on Instagram or FaceBook.  #soontobestevens  #stevensinseptember #suddenlystevens!  Of course social media hadn’t even been invented back in the olden days? Ummm…I forget…#didAlGoreinventthattoo?
